The Ponta do Sol Municipal Council announced that the forest fire that broke out in the Socorro area, Canhas parish, has been extinguished.
Smoldering and consolidation work is underway, with operational teams remaining on the ground for surveillance and necessary tasks. An aerial resource continues to make drops in specific locations.
49 operational personnel were involved in fighting the fire, supported by 15 vehicles and an aerial resource, including elements from the Firefighters, PSP, GNR, Forest Police, and Municipal Civil Protection, coordinated by CROS-RAM. Council President Rui Marques thanked the local population for their mutual aid and proactivity, and praised the professionalism and commitment of all civil protection services involved.
