A fire broke out last night on Rua da Boa Viagem, in Funchal, continuing to burn with high-intensity flames.
Given the scale of the fire, resources on site were reinforced. The Funchal Fire Brigade and the Madeira Volunteer Firefighters were assisted by members of the Santa Cruz Fire Brigade in fighting the flames in an area surrounded by several buildings.
The fire produced a thick plume of smoke, visible from various points in the city. The Public Security Police (PSP) is also on site, taking charge of the incident and has established a security perimeter in adjacent streets. There is currently no information regarding any casualties.
