The amount of waste collected in five ARM municipalities rose by 57% over four years, reaching 1,887 tons.

Waste collection in ARM municipalities increases by 57% in four years

Waste collection in the five municipalities covered by ARM (Autonomous Region of Madeira Municipalities Association) has seen a significant increase of 57% in the last four years.

In 2021, 1,205 tons of waste were collected, a figure that rose to 1,887 tons in 2025. In the first half of this year alone, 828 tons of waste were collected.

Concurrently, the GNR has identified 14 individuals responsible for illegal waste dumping, a problem that continues to affect the region.
