Caniço Socialists put forward proposals for the 2027 parish budget

The Socialist Party in the Caniço parish assembly proposes social and health measures for inclusion in the 2027 budget.

José António Nunes, a Socialist Party member of the Caniço parish assembly, has presented a set of proposals to be included in the parish council's 2027 budget.

The measures cover social and health areas and include a meal voucher card for low-income families, a shared taxi service for trips to health services and post offices, a 300 euro birth support payment, the Sorriso Caniço oral health programme, and a school participatory budget involving local schools.

The party has challenged the parish executive to adopt the proposals. Nunes noted that a Socialist proposal for the 2023 budget, a participatory budget, was implemented by the executive in 2026, and said he regretted that the origin of the idea was not publicly acknowledged.
