The John dos Passos Cultural Center in Ponta do Sol will host the commemorative concert “Cantigas pr’Ascensão” on Saturday, October 10th, at 8:00 PM.
The event marks the centenary of the birth of Maria Ascensão Fernandes, known as "Loura da Camacha," a prominent figure in Madeiran popular culture.
The concert pays tribute to her contribution to preserving and promoting Madeira's folklore and cultural identity. The Banda Paroquial de São Lourenço da Camacha and the Grupo Folclórico da Casa do Povo da Camacha will perform. Admission is free.
