The parliamentary representation of CDS-PP Madeira presented a congratulatory motion in the Legislative Assembly for the 150th anniversary of DIÁRIO de Notícias da Madeira, which falls on Sunday, October 11.
The document recalls that the newspaper published its first edition in Funchal on October 11, 1876, becoming the Region's first daily. The party highlights DIÁRIO's journey over a century and a half, accompanying significant political and social transformations.
CDS-PP also emphasizes the historical value of the newspaper's archive, its adaptation to digital media, and its distinction as European Newspaper of the Year in 2010. The initiative underscores the importance of credible and independent media organizations for the quality of democracy.
