CDS Madeira Advocates for Increased Livestock Production and Farmer Support

The CDS Madeira participated in the Porto Moniz Livestock Fair, reaffirming the importance of valuing regional production and supporting Madeiran farmers and producers.

Leandro Silva, president of the Popular Youth of Madeira, argued that the region should focus on valuing its products and creating mechanisms to boost productive capacity, thereby reducing external dependencies. He highlighted growth potential in sectors like poultry farming, which already has installed capacity for significant production increases.

Silva recalled the party's previous year's proposal for the orderly return of livestock to the mountains, utilizing animals for land management and wildfire prevention. The CDS Madeira views support for agricultural and livestock sectors as a strategic investment in the island's future, given their economic, environmental, and social significance.
