The Chega/Madeira party has accused the Regional Health Service (SESARAM) and the Regional Government of preventing deputies from carrying out their oversight duties. The accusation follows the denial of access to the 0 floor of Dr. João de Almada Hospital, where patients transferred from Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital are being housed.
According to regional deputy Hugo Nunes, the visit, requested in advance, aimed to verify the conditions for patients and health professionals. Nunes stated that the refusal reinforces the party's doubts about the facility's operation, citing reports from nurses and auxiliaries about the floor's inadequacy.
Chega also raised concerns about the hospital's kitchen, noting a reduced staff for the number of beds. The party argues that parliamentary inspection can safeguard patient privacy, viewing the prohibition as an attempt to hide issues.
