The President of the Legislative Assembly of the Autonomous Region of Madeira, Rubina Leal, made an institutional visit to the Massachusetts State House in Boston. The trip, at the invitation of Senator Mark Montigny, Dean of the Senate, aimed to strengthen institutional contacts with political officials of that North American state.
Leal highlighted the importance of proximity between institutions to give visibility to the concerns of the Madeiran diaspora in Massachusetts. She emphasized that the strong presence of the Madeiran community justifies closer relations with decision-making bodies, contributing to a better understanding of their reality and the strengthening of historical ties.
The meeting opened doors for potential cooperation opportunities in areas such as education, innovation, culture, economy, and investment. At the end, Rubina Leal invited Massachusetts officials to visit Madeira, reinforcing the desire to deepen cooperation ties.
