CHEGA criticizes 84 million investment in Technological Hub, points to lack of support for swordfish fleet

CHEGA deputy in the Assembly of the Republic, Francisco Gomes, criticized the Regional Government of Madeira for proceeding with an investment exceeding 84 million euros in the future Maritime-Port Technological Hub.

Gomes believes that the executive led by Miguel Albuquerque prioritizes "megalomaniacal projects" over the needs of the region's productive sectors. The parliamentarian described the Hub as a "totally ridiculous" project, questioning its utility for the regional economy.

The deputy highlighted it as "incomprehensible" that the Government can mobilize 84 million euros for this project but claims not to have around six million euros to renew the aging black swordfish fleet. "There is 84 million euros for nonsense programs [...] but no six million to renew the swordfish fleet. This shows that this government has lost its sense of priorities," he stated.
