CHEGA Member of Parliament Francisco Gomes has criticized the Regional Command of the PSP in Madeira for its management of police resources.
Gomes alleges that the prioritization of paid services at festivals and local fairs leads to the sacrifice of community policing, public safety, and road patrols. According to the MP, this policy overburdens officers, impacting their days off and family life.
The deputy mentioned that on Saturday, August 22nd, only four officers were reportedly on duty across the police stations of Câmara de Lobos, Ribeira Brava, Ponta do Sol, and Calheta, while others were mobilized for events. Gomes demands immediate clarification, deeming the situation "incomprehensible" and an "abuse of officers and abandonment of the population."
