CHEGA Criticizes Regional Government's Housing Policy, Seeks Clarification on IHM Management

The CHEGA party submitted requests for clarification to the Regional Government regarding IHM management, denouncing opacity and inaction.

The CHEGA Parliamentary Group in Madeira has submitted a set of requests for clarification to the Regional Government concerning the management of IHM – Madeira Housing Investments.

CHEGA's parliamentary leader, Hugo Nunes, denounced opacity in tender processes, lack of control in public housing allocation, and inaction on promised works for historic neighborhoods. According to Nunes, the regional housing policy has become a propaganda machine, ignoring the needs of those who truly require assistance amidst unprecedented housing shortages.

The party also criticized IHM's housing management, highlighting a lack of oversight and the underoccupation of homes by small households, while large families face severe shortages. CHEGA demands concrete deadlines and funding for the requalification of neighborhoods like Nogueira and Argentina, criticizing unfulfilled promises and neglect.

CHEGA affirms its commitment to scrutinizing public funds and advocating for priority for working families. A legislative request has been filed to obtain formal responses from IHM on various aspects of its management.
