The PSD/Madeira advocates for an increase in housing supply as an essential measure to respond to the current pressure on housing access. During a panel at their Parliamentary Conference, the party called for more construction, faster licensing processes, and the creation of conditions to attract private and cooperative investment.
Participants in the panel on cooperative and private housing agreed on the need for an integrated response involving the public and private sectors, cooperatives, and municipalities. It was emphasized that without an effective increase in the number of available properties, other measures will struggle to yield results.
New construction solutions, such as modular construction, were suggested, along with the need to value sector technicians. The changing profile of demand, with a significant increase in foreign buyers and cash transactions, was also highlighted, as were the obstacles to investment due to licensing complexities. The party called for simplification and acceleration of processes and the creation of more attractive fiscal and administrative conditions to channel private investment into new housing construction.
