The parliamentary leader of Chega Madeira, Hugo Nunes, met with the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Competition Authority (AdC), Nuno Cunha Rodrigues, to discuss competition issues in the region.
Nunes stressed that insularity and the small size of the market cannot justify a lack of oversight, closed markets, or barriers that benefit established interests. The party sought clarity on monitored markets, identified problems, and concrete measures with deadlines.
Topics covered included the Banana Market (GESBA), transparency in maritime freight costs, the exclusion of Autonomous Regions from national fuel and gas analyses, and price monitoring of the essential food basket. Chega also requested tools to detect collusion in public tenders and a study on airfare prices.
