Chega (CH) MP Francisco Gomes has submitted a formal question to the Minister of Internal Administration, Luís Neves, denouncing what he considers to be "profound incompetence" in the management of the Regional Command of the PSP in Madeira.
Gomes points to a situation marked by "lack of personnel, pressure on officers, disrespect for rest periods, and degradation of service conditions," stating that these problems compromise the police's operational capacity and affect the population's safety and the professionals' working conditions.
The Madeiran parliamentarian highlighted the shortage of staff, the assignment of officers to other duties, the cancellation of days off, and the lack of responses regarding subsidies and medical-psychological support. Special concern was expressed about the operational situation at Madeira Airport, which may be reducing the response capacity of territorial police stations.
Francisco Gomes demands clarification on a staffing reinforcement plan and measures to ensure dignified working conditions, concluding that "the government cannot continue to turn a blind eye to the reality of the PSP in Madeira" and that "someone must take responsibility for this failure."
