CHEGA president Hugo Nunes visited Porto Santo to assess the health, commerce, and tourism situation on the island. During his visit, Nunes criticized the Regional Government's management regarding the construction of the new Local Health Unit (ULS).
According to the party, the project, which includes 5,250 m² of construction, has seen its costs increase from 18 to 35.5 million euros and its delivery date postponed from September 2025 to summer 2028, a three-year delay. Hugo Nunes stated that this "hole in public finances" and "lack of respect" cannot be justified by external excuses but by "lack of work and poor planning." The CHEGA leader also addressed the issue of public tenders remaining empty and the promise of housing to retain health professionals.
On the island, Nunes also met with merchants and small business owners at Expo Porto Santo, advocating for tax reductions and better conditions for those who work year-round, so that the local economy does not depend solely on the summer months.
