The Regional Political Commission of CHEGA-Madeira traveled to Lisbon for a series of working meetings with the party's national leadership and with deputy Francisco Gomes, elected for Madeira.
The objective was to align political strategies and define priorities in the defense of the Autonomous Region of Madeira's interests. Key dossiers shaping the relationship between Madeira and the Republic, as well as the party's intervention strategy, were analyzed.
According to Hugo Nunes, president of CHEGA-Madeira, the coordination between the structures will strengthen the party's intervention capacity on issues such as mobility, autonomies, economy, taxation, security, fisheries, housing, and constitutional review. "We do not accept Madeira being treated as a political periphery of Portugal," he stated.
