The Chega-Madeira Political Commission has announced its support for André Ventura's re-candidacy for party leadership, with direct elections scheduled for October 31st.
The regional structure, led by deputy Hugo Nunes, believes Ventura's re-election is vital for strengthening internal cohesion and preparing for a new political cycle, both nationally and in Madeira. Nunes highlighted Ventura's courage, determination, and leadership skills, stating the support is "unequivocal and unconditional."
The party claims to be the only "truly autonomist" force, advocating for enhanced regional powers to improve the lives of Madeirans and end governance that, according to Chega, confuses the Region with private property. The direct elections will be followed by the National Convention in November, seen as a chance to boost mobilization and prepare the party to govern Portugal.
