CHEGA-Madeira has expressed its desire to transition from an opposition force to a party with a seat in the Regional Government. The statement was made by Hugo Nunes, the party's Madeira president, during the organization's re-entry event in Câmara de Lobos.
Nunes pledged that the party will not be "intimidated" or "silenced" by the current Regional Government or the PSD. The CHEGA-Madeira leader reiterated criticisms of what he called the "orange regime," pointing to cronyism and the use of party cards as practices affecting Madeirans. He defended the autonomy of the Madeiran people, rejecting any party's claim to it.
During the event, the party launched its new website, ChegaMadeira.pt, which has already received "many complaints." CHEGA-Madeira assured that it will analyze and investigate the situations reported through the platform.
