Following a report about a child falling from a third-floor balcony in Câmara de Lobos, social media comments suggested such accidents are recurrent in Madeira. In response, DIÁRIO conducted a review of news reports published between 2021 and July 2026.

The research, focusing on the newspaper's own archives, identified 15 cases that received media coverage due to their severity, circumstances, or impact. These incidents occurred in various settings, including homes, public spaces, and natural trails, and required the mobilization of emergency services.

In 2021, three falls were reported, including an incident at a bathing complex and a one-year-old baby's fall. The following year, 2022, saw two highlighted occurrences: one in a school setting and another from a residential window. In 2023, the newspaper reported three falls, one on a levada (irrigation channel) and another near the Fajã dos Padres cable car.
