The Regional Civil Protection Service (SRPC) warned on Tuesday of possible periods of heavy rain with wind across the region over the weekend of 7 and 8 November.
Based on forecasts from the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA), the service asks residents to clear gutters, drains and rainwater channels to prevent water build-up and flooding. It also advises securing objects on balconies, terraces and window sills that could be blown away.
Drivers are urged to plan journeys carefully and avoid flooded roads and watercourses. Extra caution is recommended on mountain and hillside roads, where falling rocks, earth or trees may cause disruption. The public is asked to follow weather updates and respect road closures and official instructions.
