Researchers, political representatives, and civil society organizations will gather in Funchal on September 17th to discuss the specific climate challenges of island territories.
The event, titled ‘From Local Action to Global Impact: Climate Governance in Island Territories’, is promoted by PAN Madeira and the VALORIZA Research Centre of the University of Portalegre. The meeting will start at 10 AM at the Colégio dos Jesuítas and will cover topics such as climate policies, biodiversity, cooperation between islands, and local mobilization.
The initiative will feature national and international researchers, as well as representatives from various political parties with seats in the Legislative Assembly of Madeira. Civil society will be represented by organizations such as ZERO and Associação Olho.Te. The program, free to attend but requiring mandatory registration, will be divided into three panels with opportunities for public intervention.
