Clube Desportivo Infante (CDI) is organizing a solidarity relay this weekend, the CR23/CDI 2026 – Caminho Solidário, which will cover approximately 170 kilometers of the Caminho Real 23.
The initiative involves over 50 athletes and aims to raise funds to support earthquake victims in Venezuela, acknowledging the strong historical and community ties between Madeira and the South American country.
The relay begins Friday, the 14th, at 5 PM near Funchal Cathedral and concludes on Saturday, the 15th, at 10 PM in Madeira's capital, spanning 17 stages. Participation is open to Madeira's running community, with each athlete making a monetary contribution to the cause.
