Clube Naval do Funchal (CNF) achieved a historic result by securing 3rd place in the overall standings of the 2026 National Sea Kayaking Championship. The Madeira-based team finished on the collective podium among 33 clubs nationwide, following the third and final stage held in Vila Nova de Milfontes.
CNF accumulated 2,060 points across the three national circuit events held in Vila do Conde, the Azores, and Vila Nova de Milfontes. The national title went to Clube Fluvial Vilacondense, with Clube do Mar Costa do Sol taking second place. CNF emphasized the significance of their third-place finish, noting that the top two clubs competed with considerably larger delegations.
Individually, Paulo Macedo placed 3rd in SS1 Junior Men, and Beatriz Chaves achieved the same position in SS1 Junior Women. The duo of Martin Perdigão and Paulo Macedo became national runners-up in SS2 Junior Men. Other CNF athletes secured fourth places in various categories.
