Last Sunday, October 18, the Bishop of Funchal, D. Nuno Brás, presided over the solemn Eucharist at the Cathedral, celebrating the 509th anniversary of the Funchal Cathedral's Dedication.
The celebration held a dual significance as it coincided with World Mission Day, an occasion marked by the Catholic Church worldwide.
D. Nuno Brás invited the assembly to give thanks to God for the Diocese's main temple, a visible sign of divine presence in the heart of the city and in the history of the Madeiran people since its consecration in 1517. The Eucharist also served as a moment of prayer for missionaries and populations around the world.
