Bathers discovered a dead dolphin floating close to the shore at São Pedro beach, in Santa Cruz, this morning.
Initial images sent to the newsroom showed the marine animal near the pebble beach. The Maritime Police were called to the scene and dealt with the situation.
Bathing was temporarily prohibited while the body of the dolphin was removed from the water. Further information is awaited. The animal was found in an area regularly used by sailing boats and other vessels.
