Depression Bruna forces cruise ship cancellations at Funchal port

Two cruise ship calls at Funchal port were cancelled because of adverse weather linked to depression Bruna, according to APRAM.

Adverse weather linked to depression Bruna has led to the cancellation of two cruise ship calls planned for the Port of Funchal, according to APRAM, the port authority.

The Queen Anne, operated by Cunard, was due to call on Sunday during a 12-day cruise departing and returning to Southampton. Because of the poor weather it changed its itinerary and will no longer visit Funchal. The P&O Cruises ship Azura, also cancelled its Madeira call, scheduled for Monday, and is changing course to avoid rough seas.

On Friday, the Mein Schiff 7 brought its arrival forward for the same reason and spent the night in port with 2,908 passengers and 1,022 crew on board. It left at 12:00 for Santa Cruz de La Palma in the Canary Islands.
