Storm Bruna keeps cruise ships away from Madeira

Adverse weather linked to Storm Bruna has led to two cruise ship calls at Funchal being cancelled in the coming days.

Adverse weather linked to Storm Bruna has forced the cancellation of two cruise ship calls scheduled for the coming days at the Port of Funchal.

The Queen Anne, operated by Cunard, and the Azura, from P&O Cruises, have changed their itineraries to avoid the bad weather. The Queen Anne was on a 12-day cruise departing from and returning to Southampton, in the United Kingdom.

Earlier, on Friday, the forecast of worsening conditions had already prompted the Mein Schiff 7 to bring forward its departure. The ship, carrying 2,908 passengers and 1,022 crew, spent the night in Funchal and is due to leave at midday on Saturday for Santa Cruz de La Palma in the Canary Islands.
