The Regional Director for Communities and External Cooperation, Sancho Gomes, will visit Venezuela between October 8 and 20. This marks his first trip to the country since the earthquakes on June 24, which affected several regions, notably La Guaira state, impacting families of Madeiran descent.
The visit aims to provide on-the-ground support to affected families and communities, verify the implementation of Regional Government aid, and strengthen coordination with response institutions. The region has already mobilized 180,000 euros to assist victims.
The itinerary includes visits to institutions and communities in La Guaira, Caracas, Barquisimeto, Valencia, and Maracay, along with meetings with Portuguese and Venezuelan authorities. Sancho Gomes will also participate in solidarity fundraising events.
