The Dr. Maria Isabel Mendonça Research Center (CIMIM), part of the Health Service of the Autonomous Region of Madeira (SESARAM), has been nationally recognized for the second consecutive year, winning the Best Research Paper award at the 32nd National Congress of Internal Medicine in the Algarve.

Coordinated by Isabel Mendonça and Ana Célia Sousa, CIMIM presented seven research projects. The winning paper, 'The importance of genetics in the development of insulin resistance,' was presented by Cláudia Sousa.

This award, achieved for the second year in a row, highlights the scientific quality of research conducted at SESARAM, at a congress that featured 1145 submissions from across Portugal.
