Eduardo Baptista, president of the Casa do Povo de Santo António, directed criticism at individuals he stated are trying to impede the institution's work. During the inauguration of the Lar dos Afectos, Baptista referred to these critics as "old men of Restelo" and "ignorant".
Baptista revealed that some of those targeted were present at the ceremony, having attended because they are members of the Casa do Povo. "Ignorant people think they know everything, but those with more information always have doubts," he told journalists in response to the criticism.
The institution's president added that these individuals "keep bothering, try to bother, but cannot bother." Baptista also highlighted the institution's focus on new projects, including the creation of a housing cooperative.
