The new electric buses operated by Companhia de Autocarros da Madeira (CAM) began their service this Monday on the Aerobus route.
This route connects the Madeira International Airport with the city of Funchal. The introduction of these vehicles marks a step forward in modernizing the transport company's fleet.
CAM announced in September an investment of 5.2 million euros in acquiring electric buses, aiming to reduce polluting emissions and promote more sustainable mobility.
Five of the eight electric buses purchased are for the Aerobus service, each capable of carrying 60 passengers and equipped with 528 kWh batteries. The remaining three buses will serve Porto Santo. The overall investment received funding from the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR).
