Faro Airport could be a key gateway to Madeira, says Regional Secretary

The Regional Secretary for Economy, Tourism and Culture, Eduardo Jesus, believes Faro Airport can play an increasingly important role in connectivity with Madeira, serving as an alternative to Lisbon and a gateway to international markets.

During a review of TAP's operations on the Funchal-Faro route, Jesus highlighted the route's growth potential and revealed that promotional activities in southern Spain, a market of close proximity, are being prepared with the airline.

Jesus also stressed the importance of reducing reliance on the Lisbon connection and diversifying entry points to Madeira, suggesting Faro could act as a 'hub' by leveraging connections from other airlines operating from the airport.
