TAP is contemplating an increase in flight frequencies on the Funchal-Faro route for Summer 2027. This consideration follows the route's achievement of an 88% occupancy rate between March and June of this year, marking a significant increase.
Nuno Sousa, TAP's Sales Director for Portugal and Africa, noted that the route saw a 179% growth in frequencies this year, with occupancy rates rising by five percentage points. The route, previously seasonal, will now operate year-round, including two weekly flights during the winter.
Sousa emphasized the route's importance for national connectivity and mobility between Madeira and the Algarve, with the Portuguese market accounting for 65% of sales. TAP is also exploring potential direct transatlantic flights from Madeira.
