Father Marcos Pinto called for "bold, courageous, and determined public policies" at the opening of the 5th edition of the Mais Social Congress, held at the Madeira Press Museum in Câmara de Lobos.
The head of Casa São José advocated for a paradigm shift in the Social Economy, encouraging institutions to move beyond welfare and invest in transformative solutions. "We need decisions that do not merely manage problems but help open new paths capable of changing lives," he stated.
Marcos Pinto emphasized the need for social organizations to be willing to innovate, even when facing risks and criticism, and promoted a "less welfare-oriented and more autonomous" vision for the sector. He also highlighted the Church's role and the importance of "solid, united, and courageous" institutions to address social challenges, praising the partnership between Casa São José and the Câmara Municipal de Câmara de Lobos.
