The Mayor of Funchal, Jorge Carvalho, confirmed that more than 3,000 residents are registered as seeking housing in the city.
The municipality is preparing a new Local Housing Strategy, which foresees an investment of approximately 40 million euros during the term, aiming to build around 300 housing units. This initiative complements other municipal support measures, such as rental subsidies, which already benefit over a thousand families with a budget of 2.2 million euros.
Carvalho emphasized that the housing solutions are diverse and comprehensive, designed to meet the varied needs of residents. The municipal housing policy is also coordinated with the Regional Government's strategy, which also involves significant investment in this sector.
