Francisco Gomes (Chega) calls State Budget for 2027 a "political fraud"

Chega MP Francisco Gomes has strongly criticized the 2027 State Budget, deeming it "a political fraud, a wasted historical opportunity, and another betrayal of Madeira's interests."

According to Gomes, the document lacks ambition and is "offensive to an Autonomous Region that continues to be treated as a second-class territory." He highlighted the failure to implement the new Territorial Continuity Model and the absence of solutions for agriculture, fishing, and security on the island as serious shortcomings. The MP also questioned the budget's financial credibility, citing reservations from the Court of Auditors and overly optimistic growth forecasts.

"This is not a budget for development. It is an exercise in political illusionism, intended to perpetuate governmental mediocrity," concluded Francisco Gomes, also lamenting the rising cost of living and persistent poverty nationally.
