A popular assembly held at the Jardim Municipal in Funchal unanimously approved a motion of solidarity with protesters in Lisbon and Porto, following police charges in those cities.
Participation was modest, around 50 people, which was attributed to the weather conditions. No further quotations will be made today due to the low turnout.
The demonstrations on the mainland continued, with around a thousand people gathering at Praça D. João I in Porto hours after the police charge.
