Funchal bishop calls for lay movements to be more integrated in diocesan plan

Bishop Nuno Brás met lay movement leaders and asked them to incorporate the Diocesan Pastoral Programme into their activities.

The Bishop of Funchal, Nuno Brás, met with leaders of lay movements in the diocese to foster greater mutual understanding and the integration of the Diocesan Pastoral Programme into their work.

In an interview with the Jornal da Madeira, he stressed that movements, even when part of national or international networks, are an integral part of diocesan life and should join the shared pastoral path.

The meeting, held at the Convent of Santa Clara, also allowed each group to present its identity and mission. The bishop asked them to consider the guidelines of the 2026/2027 pastoral plan and to avoid overlapping dates.

The gathering closed with a reflection on the Word of God, around the motto of the Pastoral Year, "Be doers of the Word".
