The Funchal City Council approved this Thursday a package of social and educational support worth €226,626, announced by the mayor, Jorge Carvalho.
The support covers six municipal programmes: birth and family support, the municipal rental subsidy, municipal co-payment on medicines, PRESERVA, school books and supplies, and Táxis +75. The largest share goes to birth and family support, at €164,311. The municipal rental subsidy provides €45,225 for families struggling with private market rents.
At the same meeting, the council also agreed to open a recruitment procedure for three architects, aiming to speed up responses to the many urban planning applications, as the digitalisation of urban services requires closer support.
