The mayor of Funchal, Jorge Carvalho, announced the approval of more than €200,000 in social support covering medicines, the Táxis +75 programme, birth rate measures and school supplies. The decisions were taken at the council's weekly meeting held this Thursday.
All proposals from the majority were approved unanimously, including a tender to hire three new architects for municipal services. The mayor said the aim is to speed up the analysis and follow-up of applications and keep response times as short as possible.
Some opposition proposals were rejected at the same meeting, including a JPP initiative on VAT and a Chega proposal for a study on the migrant population, as the council already has a 2025 study.
