The 9th edition of the Funchal Futsal Cup International Tournament is consolidating Madeira as a hub for youth futsal, gathering approximately 8500 participants from 10 countries. The competition, organized by Clube Desportivo Escola Francisco Franco (CDEFF), involves 60 teams, 42 of which are from outside the Autonomous Region of Madeira.
Over one week, 184 matches are played across the U-11 to U-19 categories in four island pavilions. Organizers highlight strong public attendance, a climate of respect and camaraderie, and the event's significant economic and tourism impact on the region. Alongside the games, various tourist activities are promoted to showcase Madeira to participants, reinforcing its position as a sports tourism destination.
