The Funchal City Council (CMF) will mark World Walking Day 2026 with an open and free activity for the public on October 4th. The event will start from Jardim Almirante Reis, following a route along the promenade to Rotunda Harvey Foster and back.
Participants are asked to gather at 9:30 AM for a collective warm-up session. The walk and run will commence at 10:00 AM. The organization aims to prioritize participation and social interaction over athletic performance, and the event is open to all ages and fitness levels.
Upon returning to Jardim Almirante Reis, there will be musical entertainment, followed by a cool-down and stretching session at 11:00 AM. The initiative is part of promoting active lifestyles, linked to the "Funchal Active City" concept.
