The Via Rápida, in both directions, saw slow and congested traffic on Wednesday morning, causing delays for those with appointments.
In the Machico - Ribeira Brava direction, the congestion stretched for approximately 4.5 km, starting before the Cancela junction and continuing through Boa Nova. In the opposite direction, the Pestana Júnior junction experienced queues of nearly 2 km, with branches towards the Viveiros and Santo António junctions.
Additionally, the Hospital roundabout, a critical point in Funchal's center, also suffered from heavy traffic on all its approaches. Authorities attribute these disruptions to the high volume of traffic, even before 8:00 AM.
