The Funchal City Council, through its Sports Division, is promoting the Funchal Nautical 2026 event from August 14 to September 6, 2026. The initiative brings together various water activities supported by the municipality and organized by regional sports entities.
The main goal is to strengthen the city's connection to the sea, encourage physical activity, and introduce different water sports. Most of the activities will take place in Funchal Bay.
The program includes the Porto Santo Line Regatta (August 14 and 16), the NELO 510 Cup and the NP Canoeing Schools Championship (August 22), the XXII Funchal Traditional Canoes Regatta (August 22), and the XXXI José da Silva SACA Sea Race (August 23). The XXIV Canaries Madeira Regatta, running from August 30 to September 6, is also a highlight.
