Funchal Port has been recognized as the World's Best Cruise Terminal for Sustainability 2026 by the World Cruise Awards. This award acknowledges the efforts of the Ports Administration of the Autonomous Region of Madeira (APRAM, SA) in sustainability, digitalization, and energy transition.
Regional Secretary for Economy, José Manuel Rodrigues, congratulated the port community workers, calling the award a source of pride for the region and a testament to the professionalism of all involved. APRAM's board president, Paula Cabaço, highlighted projects like Green Ports Madeira and energy efficiency investments, noting this is the second time the port has received this award.
APRAM also engages in social and environmental initiatives with cruise lines and CLIA, such as tree planting and student visits to ships, aiming to connect the sector with the community and raise environmental awareness. The World Cruise Awards, established in 2021, celebrate excellence and innovation in the cruise industry, with Madeira having previously won awards for Best European Cruise Destination.
