The municipal group 'Funchal Sempre Melhor' has announced a 20% increase in the value of scholarships for higher education students. According to the group, this measure reflects the strategic priority given to education and knowledge in the municipality of Funchal.
The proposal to revise the regulations will be discussed and voted on at the next Municipal Assembly. With this increase, scholarships will range annually from 300 to 1,200 euros, potentially reaching 1,320 euros with additional allowances.
Changes will also be introduced to increase support for students in specific situations, such as volunteering, single-parent households, victims of domestic violence, or those with family members suffering from oncological, chronic, or disabling diseases. The application process will be simplified for greater accessibility.
The Funchal City Council invests over two million euros annually in this program. Applications are open until December 31st and are intended for residents of Funchal pursuing professional technical courses, bachelor's degrees, master's degrees, or doctorates.
