The Municipality of Funchal has set a new record in cultural support, having backed 63 associations in 2026. Helena Leal, a councilwoman representing the Mayor at Mesclarte’26, described the investment as the municipality's largest ever in this sector.
Leal emphasized the vital role of culture and creative industries in economic and social development, job creation, and the promotion of regional talent. "Madeira does not just want to receive the world. It also wants to create for the world and assert itself through its talent," she stated, highlighting the importance of transforming Madeiran identity into opportunities for collaboration and international projection.
The municipality assures its continued support for initiatives that value culture, stimulate creativity, and strengthen the bond between the community and the city.
