The Funchal City Council, through its Environment Department, has set up a special cleaning and sanitization operation in the areas of the Arraial do Monte.
The plan included prior actions, daily interventions during the festivities, and a large post-event operation. In the weeks leading up to the festival, CMF teams focused on clearing and cleaning verges and gutters on several main streets of the parish.
With the start of the novenas, daily work began early with waste collection and washing of unsanitary points. 97 containers of various sizes were placed for both undifferentiated and recyclable waste, along with 15 additional portable toilets.
For the procession, the cleaning operation started at 7:00 AM with 57 workers, prioritizing the main area before the religious celebrations began.
