Funchal Notícias first reported the problem on July 22nd, and eight days after a direct conversation with the Funchal mayor, Jorge Carvalho, the situation has not changed. The publication expresses frustration with the lack of response, describing the alerts as "words in the wind."
A photograph released by the publication shows the drain in front of Theos restaurant, highlighting the visible pollution. The "Estepilha" columnist for Funchal Notícias threatens to attend the next Municipal Assembly to raise the issue if competent services do not intervene.
